"......and they that worship God must do so in Spirit and in truth." John 4:24
What an exciting time to be a part of the Worship and Arts Ministry at The Ray!! This is clearly a season of transition and transformation. Historically, our vital worship experiences have impacted the lives of our corporate community in such a profound way that more and more spectators are being transformed into participants. Members are maturing and understanding what it means to worship. This will continue as we work to live out our 2008 church program theme, “Saved to Serve: Unity, Maturity, and Ministry.” This is critical in light of the fact that worship is "the work of the people" or “ministry,” under the leadership and authority of the Holy Spirit.
As we continue to strengthen every worship encounter, we are committed to being more intentional in promoting renewal, restoration, revitalization, re-formation, revival, and ultimately worship in "Spirit and truth."
This new season demands that hearts, minds, and spirits be transformed whenever we come together as the community of faith. Vital worship promotes discipleship verses membership. When we make disciples, the church is then able to serve as a catalyst for transforming the world for Christ! What we do in worship shapes how we live our lives and the way we live our lives shapes the world.
The Word of God must be accessible to ALL of God’s people. Jesus was ALWAYS concerned about those who were “differently-abled”…the blind, the lame, etc. Over and over in the scriptures we see them being brought to Jesus so that they could know and experience the liberating power and joy that He offers. Participants in the ministry of Sign use their hands to assist the hearing impaired in participating in worship to the fullest. When God speaks to us through prayers, music, scripture, and dramatic presentations, they, too, are recipients of the richness provided through each medium. Training resources are available to interested participants.
• Rehearsals: Every 2nd Saturday at 10 a.m.
It is no secret that the Word of God is, indeed, THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD! In the Ministry of Drama, ‘the Word becomes flesh’ in a variety of ways. The Parable Players sponsor various Christian dramatic productions to be performed during worship services, as a special event, or in conjunction with the Ministry of Outreach. Participants include actors, playwrights, set designers, stagehands, costume consultants, makeup artists, tailors, and seamstresses. The 2:9 Players are the youth drama team. Those who are gifted in the areas of writing, visual creativity, seamstresses, acting, etc. are encouraged to add their gifts to this ministry.
• Rehearsals: Mondays, Tuesdays & Saturdays prior to performances
The spirit of David permeates this ministry. Our African ancestors remind us that “The Spirit will not descend without a song!” Music is the very essence of our faith. It is the ONE thing that the people of God can do all at the same time and still create a context for community. If God has placed a song in your mouth, in your heart, in your spirit, the Lord has need of you in this ministry.
